Fed sets up five task forces to review how monetary policy is carried out
The Federal Reserve named the leadership and objectives of five task forces that will examine core areas of monetary policy implementation and report to the Federal Open Market Committee.

The Federal Reserve on July 9, 2026 announced the leadership and objectives of five task forces set up to examine key areas of how monetary policy is carried out, according to a press release from the Federal Reserve Board.
Each of the five groups is co-led by outside advisers drawn from among economists, business figures and former central bank practitioners, the Fed said. Federal Reserve staff support the work, but the task forces operate independently of the institution they are reviewing.
Their mandate is to look at whether the tools and methods of policy, the analytical apparatus behind it, and the broader approach to policy itself can be improved, and to bring evidence-based, candid views and rigorous findings to the Federal Open Market Committee, according to the release.
Chair Kevin Warsh underscored the central bank’s commitment to price stability and maximum employment in connection with the announcement, the Fed said.
The Board said additional information about the task forces and the subjects they are taking up will be posted on the Federal Reserve’s website from time to time.
